Besant Nagar is a locality in Chennai, named after the famous theosophist Annie Besant. The area was developed by the Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) in late 1970s and early 1980s. It is surrounded by Raja Annamalaipuram, Mandaveli, Adyar, Thiruvanmiyur, Elliots Beach and adjoins the Theosophical Society.
