North Delhi is an administrative district that falls under the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The locality is surrounded by Yamuna River on its periphery and by districts of North West Delhi to the north and west.
North Delhi is bifurcated in to three major subdivisions, administratively. Sadar Bazaar, Kotwali and Civil Lines fall under the region.
Economy, Industry and Employment:
The city is the largest commercial hub in the entire northern India. As per the reports of the financial year 2009 – 2010, the gross state domestic product was 2, 176 billion Indian rupees. In terms of the per capita income, the city was on number two in the entire country.
According to an economic survey conducted in the year 2006, tertiary sector contributes almost 70 % in the state’s economy followed by the secondary and primary sector. The city has head offices of various multi – nationals which accelerated the employment and growth rate of the state.
Infrastructure:
North Delhi has exceptional infrastructural development with brilliant connectivity to the rest of the country and abroad. Indira Gandhi International Airport is the major gateway of the city for domestic and international flights.
The city has the highest road density with the country’s largest bus transport system. The city is also a major railway junction in the entire railways network of the country. It is the headquarters of the northern Indian Railways.
