Durgapur is one of West Bengal’s most prominent cities and lies approximately 160 kilometres away from Kolkata. Situated in the Burdwan district. Durgapur was conceived by Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, Bengal’s second chief minister. This industrial township was planned and designed by Benjamin Polk and Joseph Allen Stein and is home to the Durgapur Steel Plant, one of the biggest industrial units in West Bengal. The Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute and Alloy Steels Plant of SAIL can be counted as prominent landmarks of Durgapur property.

The area is also home to power projects like the Durgapur Thermal Power Station, Durgapur Projects Limited and Damodar Valley Corporation. Durgapur is also home to one of the country’s most prestigious engineering and technological education institutes, namely the National Insitute of Technology which was earlier known as the Durgapur Regional Engineering College. Such institutions also lend a certain charm to Property in Durgapur. The Grand Trunk Road or National Highway 2 runs through the area and has been further expanded into a four lane Highway as part of the important Golden Quadrilateral project.
